I went to a rural place called FenTain in Hualien. This place was lacking in art-related facilities and resources. I organized a five-day summer performance camp for teenagers there, which was a new experience for me. Along with four other members, we introduced theatre to them and helped them express themselves through acting.
Initially, I was worried about the final play due to the young children's lack of professional experience. However, to my surprise, they were able to complete the performance, expressing the issues they cared about and their feelings regarding self-identity.
During the project, I had the opportunity to witness the profound impact that theatre can have on young people, giving me a sense of achievement and reinforcing my passion for building connections between artworks and communities. As a child, I was unable to engage in art-related activities due to the lack of resources in my hometown. This project has greatly strengthened my resolve to use my performance skills for the betterment of society.
